Private Lessons available

Solveig has ten years of teaching experience and maintains a studio of online and in-person violin students.

She has worked closely with her mother, Suzuki violin teacher Siri Geenen, to hone her abilities as a violin teacher.

Solveig received her Suzuki Association of the Americas Every Child Can! (ECC!) training during her time at Northwestern University under the instruction of Ann Montzka Smelser, where she also served as President of the Evanston Young Artists program, a non-profit organization that provides free lessons to underserved students in the Chicago area.

Solveig has experience teaching students from ages three to adults, ranging from complete beginners to students playing the major concert repertoire. She also has experience coaching excerpts for All State Orchestra and youth orchestra auditions. Solveig believes in giving every student a strong technical foundation on the violin, including training in music theory and aural skills, while also fostering their individual growth as a musician. She hopes to instill a life-long love of music in her students, no matter what path they pursue. Solveig provides lesson notes and practice videos after each lesson, which helps to facilitate at home practice. For students having lessons online, she provides additional videos and instructional materials to enrich the online learning environment.

Solveig teaches in-person in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area and online over Zoom, FaceTime, or your preferred platform. She provides a free online trial lesson to prospective students.
